Visitor Infomation

The island has an area of 70sq km, however two thirds of the landmass is below the high tide level. Sea closures have been gazetted for the Crocodile Island Group and Glyde River.

Facilities and Organisations

Milingimbi has a school (Community Education Centre), Clinic, ALPA Store.

Milingimbi Council runs agencies for Centrelink and Australia Post.

How to get to Milingimbi

Most people arrive on the daily (except for Saturdays) Air North RPT from Darwin.

Charter flights from other centres operate. No regular sea transport from the mainland exists, apart from freight

Buying food and supplies

ALPA operates a community store (8987 9901) is open 6 days a week (closed Sun). EFTPOS and ATM facilities .

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT SECTIONS OF THE ISLAND CAN BE CLOSED DUE TO CEREMONIES. VISITORS SHOULD TAKE GREAT CARE TO AVOID ENTERING THESE AREAS.

Telstra mobile phone service provides excellent coverage for most of the island , together with Next G Internet connection.
